Port Harcourt Hotel Serial-killer suspect in Police net

The Police in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital has in it’s custody a man suspected to have carried out at least one of the several mysterious murders of young ladies in hotels in and around the state capital.

Commissioner of Police in Rivers State Mustapha DanDaura  stated this in a press briefing Monday evening.

Part of the press statement read “So far, we have made substantial progress in the Investigation of these killings. In one of the cases the actual Murder Suspect has been arrested and he is making useful confessions. He would have been paraded today but we are still working on some clues given by him that may further aid our Investigations”….”As at the last count we have recorded only eight verifiable cases of Hotel Murders and they are receiving adequate attention for which the findings will be made public in due course”.

Residents and Hoteliers in Port Harcourt are reeling under  the negative impact of recent killings of young girls by their partners in different hotels in and around the garden City.

Jennifer Nwokocha, Maureen Ewsu and some others who are yet to be identified are some of the victims of these mysterious murders all by strangulation.

Recently a group of young women led by Soibibo Jack led a protest to the Rivers State Police command protesting the incessant Deaths without any arrest being made. The protesting women were received by a Deputy commissioner of police who assured the protesting women that the police is doing everything possible in partnership with hoteliers and other security agencies to bring the killer to book and unravel the mystery behind the multiple deaths.

Hoteliers in Port Harcourt are lamenting the negative impact of recent killings of young girls by their partners in different hotels in the garden City.

Since July 2019 five (5) different girls all in their twenties have been murdered in very similar circumstances.
The modus operandi of the killer tells even the most uninitiated policeman that a serial killer or killers are on rampage in the garden City. Jennifer Nwokocha, Maureen Ewsu and some others who are yet to be identified are some of the victims of these mysterious murders all by strangulation.

Our correspondent spoke to the father of one of the victims, 22 year old Precious a university undergraduate, Innocent Eze.
The bereaved father narrated how his late daughter sought for his permission to allow her visit her elder sister Ezinne Blessing Godswill but rather elected to visit her killer who had proposed marriage to her She  was later found dead in a hotel room booked by her assailant.

A relation of one of the victims who refused to be named said the serial killers  do not communicate with their victims via mobile phones, preferring encrypted messaging provided by a dating site. Upon contact the killers search for seedy, low cost motels with no surveillance cameras   and tardy security. They proceed to have sexual intercourse with their victims, then strangle them when they least expect probably after drugging them.

Another family member decried the publication of  pictures of the deceased victims in not too complimentary positions  on the internet without regard to the feelings of relatives.

There is a widespread  notion that the victims  are” runs girls”, a fanciful name for Women of easy virtue who trade sexual pleasures for money.
Port Harcourt residents who spoke to our correspondent say they are keeping fingers crossed until the arrested suspected is made known

This has been debunked as one of the Victims, Precious Steve engaged  in online retail and actually ran an online fashion drop-shipping business .

Dora is one of the unfortunate victims of the ongoing serials killings.
Friends say she was not a prostitute but a staff of the hotel where she was murdered.

Dora was said to be an orphan who worked to support her siblings.
She was been murdered at her place of work.

The State Government is pulling all stops to apprehend the killers. Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Dr Tammy Danagogo stated that over the last few weeks, the State Security Council under the leadership of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has put in place measures to secure the lives of young women who have been targeted by serial killers.
