September 21 each year is observed by the United Nation as "International Day of Peace"  (Peace Day). This day in history was first established in the year 1981 by unanimous United Nation's , Resolution 36/37, the General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to “commemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples.”

Governor Ugwuanyi Doctrine of Peace

DOCTRINE is a belief or set of beliefs held and taught by a political party or religious organization. The word doctrine connotes  creed , credo , dogma. It is synonymous to principles, rules, tenet, guidelines, code. 

In Enugu State, the concept of Peace became a Doctrine on May 29, 2015 when His Excellency Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi assumed mantle of leadership as the Executive Governor of Enugu State. He declared Peace as the foundation for good governance and social  economic development. 

Communal Peace

As the Chief Security Officer of the State, Governor Ugwuanyi have demonstrated higher commitment to his Doctrine of Peace. Record abound of several averted and resolved communal disputes in Enugu State under the Ugwuanyi *Doctrine of Peace *.

 The Oruku and Umuode autonomous communities Peace Accord is attributed to the Governor's Doctrine of Peace.
By graciously jettisoning the concept of divide and rule, which is the trade mark of some political leaders, Governor Ugwuanyi ensures that discrimination and divisiveness is abolished in Enugu Communities. Today, Enugu State is the most peaceful state in Nigeria with no record of Communal clashes unlike her neighbouring  Ebonyi and other states. This can only be achieved through Governor Ugwuanyi Doctrine of Peace and the people's resolution to dwell in Peace and prosperity.

Political Tranquillity

Despite political provocations and sabotages, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi political leadership has demonstrated Tolerance more than his predecessors and counter parts in office.

Through the Doctrine of Peace, the political spectrum of Enugu State have witnessed all inclusive style of leadership under Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. Many erstwhile political war lords have been baptized by the Ugwuanyi Doctrine of Peace.  Today,  our elder statesmen are united for good.

There is also political tolerance as the Governor have shown during his first and second elections. The peaceful Ugwuanyi believes that he is the Governor of everyone no matter your political affiliation.

Why Peace is Paramount 

According to Mother Teresa
“If we have no Peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.”

There is no doubt whatsoever that Peace is the bedrock for Progress. Bearing this in mind, any effort that encourages Peace is a worthy venture and thus commendable.

Sustained Peace 

Imperatively, the good  people of Enugu State must be commended for accepting  the Ugwuanyi Doctrine of Peace. Indeed, Ndi Enugu have imbibed the Doctrine of Peace through their culture of hospitality and civility.

Today , as the world commemorates the 2019 International Day of Peace,  (Theme: Climate Action for Peace), let us further embrace the Governor Ugwuanyi Doctrine of Peace for sustained peace and prosperity of Enugu State.

Enugu State is in the hands of God.
