Barrister Patrick Nworah Speaks on Police Brutality
Barrister Patrick Nworah Speaking with Stanking News reporter, Aired his View on the Arrest of Mr David West ( The serial Killer ) and police approach in pampering the culprit against the general view of Nigerians.
"I saw many posts and videos condemning the Human approach given to the alleged Serial Killer by the Nigerian Police.
It became more worrisome when some renowned Nigerian Human Right activists formed part of the thread criticising the Nigerian police for being human towards Mr. West.
Majority of Nigerians expected the usual cruelty levied against the folk in this second pics against Mr. West, or something even worst.
Truth told is, Nigerian Police are aware the world is watching. They know Mr. West is presumed innocent until he is declared guilty by a competent Court. They know their usual cruel practice (which we expected against Mr. West) is an obnoxious practice, which grossly contravenes the Human Right Chatter. They know he has a right to Human dignity until he is judiciously convicted.
My emphasis is, let our long suffering, and perpetual subjection to the barbaric whips and caprice of the Nigeian Police not become a mental standard for treating us. Let's pick a brighter side of this provoking scenarios and rather insist they just upheld an appropriate standard which must be a precedent. It is unfortunate that majority of people subjected to this police brutality suffers same innocently, or over slight offences.
They read our reactions, and by virtue of a subtle subconsciousness, they are profoundly aware of our unconscious and indirect approval of those usual repugnant practices they indulge against the Citizens, which makes the Lawyer's job even more difficult.
While we are glad Mr. West is apprehended, while we hope he drinks from his own cup soonest, let's advocate that an innocent Mr. South should also have his dignity respected upon his arrest by the Police.
#Say no to #Policebrutality, know your #Rights, and uphold the #Fundamental Human Rights regardless of which side of the coin that suits your viewing comfort"
